I <3 Phillip Lim + NY
While I am still recovering from the international blur of madness that fashion weeks have become by processing f/w in my dreams, (shopping sprees on the moon, wearing my favorites looks in Jungian dream scenarios etc) I'm feeling the change in weather. Those few extra degrees of warmth are enough to send me back down the proverbial rabbit hole to spring 13 which this morning, brings me to Phillip Lim. I have always loved the line and admired the clean silhouettes he creates, but I find more and more, I pull something off a rack because of the construction, look and feel of the entire garment- texture, colour, textile, shape- and I'm thinking - yes, yes I love this, oh of course, it's Lim. On my wish list right now is the I <3 Nueva York tee business he had going on during last season's runway. The iconic I <3 NY design was created by Milton Glaser in 1977 and in a turn to street style, Lim has given it a cinderella fashion moment paired with grunge goddess dungarees or spliced with sheer panels under a silk floral bomber. As I'm still watching the Great Gatsby trailer almost daily (post here), I love the contrast of the leather sleeves with the feminine 1920's embellishment feel.
